Shifts: 7:15am - 1:45pm (Early 6.5 hours), 1:15pm - 7:45pm (Late 6.5 hours), 7:15am - 7:45pm (12.5 hours), 7:15pm - 7:45am (Night Shift 12.5 hours)

Job Purpose
You will be responsible for providing an excellent level of care to adults over the age of 18 with complex acquired neurological conditions and physical disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care and rehabilitation pathways for residents under direct supervision from senior nursing staff.
- Follow nursing strategies for residents with complex physical and sensory disabilitites, seeking specialist advice where appropriate.
- Ensure that each resident recieves holistic, person-centred care that promotes effective safeguarding, dignity and health well-being at all times.
- Work with the senior nursing team to ensure that daily medication is administered and recorded accurately and timely.
- Priortise nursing care, recognising deterioration in residents and alerting senior nursing staff and the Director of Nursing immediately.
- Work in close liaison with the MDT in providing all care staff with effective leadership that promotes MNCC's philosophy of care and excellent standards of training.
- Complete resident documentation correctly, appropriately and in a timely manner ensuring to adhere to policies, procedures and GDPR legislation at all times.
- Participate in meetings with the MDT where required.
- Participate in the health eduction and explanation of care/treatment to residents enabling them to make choices and understand their emotional, social, health and well-being needs. This may include handling distressing or emotional circumstances with residents and their relatives/next of kin.
- Be responsible for the control and administration of drugs within the regulations outlined in MNCC's Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines Policy: CP037.
- Understand the main routes of infection spread by liaising with MNCC infection control leads, including how to prevent cross infection.
- Assist in updating professional practise/procedures in line with current research.
- Successfully complete and achieve key competencies of a Registered Nurse at MNCC.
Additional Responsibilities
- Act as mentor/preceptor for trained and untrained staff once appropriate training has been given.
- Assist nursing practise in line with NMC regulations, relevant research and evidence-based practise.
- Work with your Unit Manager and the Director of Nursing in developing and implementing best practice.
- Assist in the development and implementation of nursing practise guidelines and standards and policies within MNCC.
- Employees must be aware of their Health & Safety responsibility to ensure that agreed safety procedures are carried out and to maintain a safe enviroment for all employees, residents, volunteers and visitors.
- To be aware of infection control policies, procedures and the importance of protecting themselves, residents, volunteers and visitors and in maintaining a clean and healthy envionment.
- Recieve induction training and yearly updates for Manual Handling / Moving and Positioning, in order to provide sufficient and safe practise with residents. This includes working with hoists, rota stand, and other specialised transfer, positioning and postural management equipment, in the correct way, fulfilling Health & Safety policies and legislation.
- To follow MNCC training requirements such as yearly mandatory training via e-learning, staff competencies and workshops if required to attend.
- To positively promote MNCC's values of Trust, Respect, Hope, Dignity and Excellence in your day-to-day working ensuring, residents receive holistic, person-centered care.
The post-holder may be required to carry out other duties and responsibilities, from time to time, as determined by MNCC. The job description will also be subject to change in-line with the needs of the Centre.
Staff have a contractual duty to ensure that mandatory training is current and will be expected to participate and undertake further developmental training, specific to their role.
