Job Title: Health Care Assistant
Reporting To: Unit Manager
Shifts: 7:15am – 1:45pm (Early 6.5 hours) 1:15pm – 7:45pm (Late 6.5 hours) 7:15am – 7:45pm (Long Shift 12.5 hours) 7:15pm – 7:45am (Night Shift 12.5 hours)

Job Purpose
You will be responsible for providing an excellent level of care to adults over the age of 18 with complex acquired neurological conditions and physical disabilities. You will deliver personal care including toileting, hygiene, washing and dressing and mob ility requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a respectable and trustworthy approach to personal care whilst maintaining privacy and dignity.
- Provide a personal experience to all residents.
- Work in accordance with MNCC's policies and procedures based off the Skills for Care's 'Code of Conduct' within your role.
- Be competent in recording basic resident observations where required.
- Provide personal care, eye care, pressure ulcer prevention and care and continence management.
- Assess and monitor respiration and BM.
- Administration and management of PEG feeding, as well as tracheostomy care and undertaking swallowing difficulties.
- Use a resident's care plan when providing support.
- Handle sensitive/confidential information correctly in accordance with GDPR regulations.
- Understand the main routes of infection spread and how to prevent cross infection.
- Report any concerns about standards of care to the appropriate manager.
- Recognise and support signs of ill health or significant changes in health and well being of residents.
- Assist your multi-disciplinary team in achieving each resident's rehabilitation path by following their care plans and advice from qualified therapists, nurses, and external health professionals.
- Ensure residents are ready for any therapy sessions that are scheduled with our onsite therapists.
- Accompany residents on outings including appointments, shopping, days and trips out etc. and assist resid ent s when travelling.
- Prepare food for resid ents ensuring hygiene standards are followed.
- Work between the units as required.
- To be a Key Worker to one or more residents.
Additional Responsibilities
- Employees must be aware of their Health & Safety responsibility to ensure that agreed safety procedures are carried out and to maintain a safe environment for all employees, residents, volunteers and visitors.
- To be aware of infection control policies, procedures and the importance of protecting themsel ves, residents, volunteers and visitors and in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
- Receive induction training and yearly updates for Manual Handling / Moving and Positioning, in order to provide sufficient and safe practice with residents. This i ncludes working with hoists, rota stand, and other specialised transfer, positioning and postural management equipment, in the correct way, fulfilling Health & Safety policies and legislation.
- To follow M NCC training requirements such as yearly mandatory training via e - learning, staff competencies and workshops if required to attend.

The post-holder may be required to carry out other duties and responsibilities, from time to time, as determined by MNCC. The job description will also be subject to change in-line with the needs of the Centre.
Staff have a contractual duty to ensure that mandatory training is current and will be expected to participate and undertake further development training, specific to their role.
