Packages of care
Marillac Neurological Care Centre provides high quality care designed around the individual.
We provide holistic care that encompasses Medical, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Nutritional, Psychology, Activity and Pastoral Care.
We have, in conjunction with commissioners, developed pathways of care that deliver agreed outcomes with defined lengths of stay where possible and appropriate.

These are separate one-bedroom apartments adjacent to the main building fitted with a kitchen, living area and wet room. The bungalows have easy access to the sensory garden and have their own parking spaces.
These facilities provide support to individuals in preparation for discharge back to the community. The focus is on promoting functional daily living skills with support from the MDT professionals.
This service offers opportunities for socialisation and recreation, where individuals will access social activities offered by the Activities team at Marillac, which has the support of well-trained volunteers.
These activities are also attended by the residents (inpatients) and sometimes foster opportunities, for former residents, to meet again with staff, volunteers and other residents (and their families) that they have met during their stay at the neurological centre.
Maintaining existing or building new relationships will enable individuals to reintegrate into their community, and Marillac offers them an adapted and supported environment to facilitate these interactions.
The continuing care package is long-term, holistic care that meets the needs of people who have physical, neurological and complex disabilities as a result of illness or accidents.
This care package focuses on maintaining and enhancing care to promote independence, freedom of choice and a sense of hope/fulfilment to enhance the quality of people’s lives.
The continuing care package is usually arranged and funded by health services (CCGs) and also social services (local authorities) or is privately funded.
We offer a person-centred rehabilitation service with full multi-disciplinary team approach and involvement. We can offer defined length of time packages from three to twelve months in agreement with commissioners, residents and family with defined reporting schedules. We are able to provide rehabilitation packages for complex care needs. We have the facilities to provide pre-discharge programmes with our pre-discharge bungalows.
This service is sometimes called ‘palliative care’ or ‘neuropalliative care’.
It focuses on providing relief from pain, discomfort or stress. It’s about improving a patient’s everyday quality of life.
Symptom management may be suitable for someone who has severe and far-reaching disabilities or who is in the later stages of a progressive neurological condition.
Conditions treated:
- Motor neurone disease
- Parkinson’s disease
- Multiple sclerosis
- Huntington’s disease
