The League of Friends In 1979 Barrie Gilbert arranged a public meeting with the idea of forming a League of Friends to raise funds to help improve the lives of the Resident’s. The idea was carried and The League of Friends of the Marillac was born. In the following years the League has raised a large amount of money which has been used to purchase special beds, telephones for the units, soft furnishings, plants and flowers. The League meet on the 1st Thursday of every month and is currently chaired by Mr Frank Hartley. Throughout the year they have a vast number of events planned: In the last year alone the League raised £20,000, and the hard work is appreciated by all Resident’s, Relatives and Staff.
